ABOUT THE FORUM
Northern Sustainable Development Forum (the Forum) is a permanent international expert platform for discussing the issues and prospects of sustainable development of the Arctic and the North.

In 2015, the UN General Assembly adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development that included 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
The first Forum was held in 2019 and discussed a wide range of the regional sustainable development issues in the Arctic and the North to identify the priority directions and themes for the next years. The themes of the Forums are chosen based on the sustainable development goals, with Goals 8 and 17 being present at all Forums.
In 2020, the main theme of the Forum was the development of transport infrastructure in the Arctic and the North (Goal 9).
The main theme of the 2021 Forum: Climate Change and Permafrost Response (Goal 13).
The main theme of the 2022 Forum: Energy of the Arctic: New Challenges – New Solutions (Goal 7).

ОСНОВНАЯ ТЕМА ФОРУМА — 2025
Север и Арктика являются динамично меняющимися регионами мира, и партнерство здесь приобретает исключительное значение. Стремительное изменение климата, таяние льдов, открытие новых морских путей и доступ к богатым природным ресурсам создают как беспрецедентные возможности, так и серьезные вызовы. В этом меняющемся мире партнерство по вопросам устойчивого развития Севера и Арктики становится ключевым фактором для обеспечения стабильности и сохранения уникальной экосистемы.
Необходимо поддерживать диалог и дипломатические каналы, укреплять международное право и платформы для мирного сотрудничества. Любое партнерство должно основываться на уважении прав и интересов коренных народов, их участии в принятии решений и использовании их уникальных традиционных знаний для устойчивого управления регионом. Требуется разработка международных стандартов и передовых практик для устойчивого развития регионов Севера и Арктики. Необходимо совместное научное исследование и мониторинг изменений, обмен данными, разработка стратегий адаптации (например, укрепление инфраструктуры, защита общин коренных народов) и совместные усилия по сокращению глобальных выбросов парниковых газов. Международные программы исследований нужны для эффективности такого сотрудничества.
В меняющемся мире партнерство — это не просто желаемая опция, а насущная необходимость. Только через совместные усилия, основанные на науке, взаимном уважении и принципах устойчивого развития, можно эффективно решать возникающие вызовы и использовать возможности, которые предоставляет этот уникальный регион. Процветание Севера и сохранение Арктики как зоны мира, сотрудничества и устойчивого развития должно оставаться приоритетом для всех участников.
Основная тема соответствует ЦУР 17.

Детальная программа Форума будет размещена на сайте после 20 ОКТЯБРЯ по результатам рассмотрения оргкомитетом предложений по организации мероприятий в рамках Форума.
PROPOSING THE EVENTS
The applications for the events can be submitted on the Forum’s official website. The events have to address the main theme or the themes of the main blocks.
The organizers shall be responsible for making the agenda, the lists of speakers and participants, and for collecting the materials.
The organizers of the events shall coordinate their activities with the main organizers of the Forum in terms of the events’ agenda and with the Forum’s Operator in terms of technical arrangements and logistics.
The Operator of the Forum shall identify the venues and arrange the required equipment and simultaneous interpreting (as required).
Also, the Operator of the Forum shall arrange the registration of participants, centralized booking of accommodation and be responsible for transportation.
The Organizing Committee shall have the right to select events to the Forum’s agenda.
TERMS OF PARTICIPATION
All participants must pay a registration fee.
Бесплатная квота устанавливается для регионов-членов и бизнес-партнеров Северного Форума, участникам Российско-Азиатского консорциума арктических исследований, Молодежного Северного Форума, Ассоциации школ Северного Форума.
For school students, students and postgraduate students, the participation in the Forum is free.

- Awarding the General Information Partner status.
- Placing the Internet banner of the Information Partner on the Forum’s website: nsdf.ru with a redirection to your website.
- Individual promotion action.
- Participation of the General Information Partner’s representative as a moderator or co-moderator of one of the events (as agreed with the organizers of the Forum).
- Putting the Partner’s stander/banner at the events.
- Providing working space (if attending personally).
- Distributing the materials at the registration counter.
- Placing the General Information Partner’s logo with the status in all promotion and information materials of the Forum.
- Возможность использовать фото- и видеоматериалы мероприятия в рекламных целях.
The commitments of the General Information Partner are agreed individually with the Forum’s Operator when preparing a Contract.
PUBLISHING THE MATERIALS
Планируется издание материалов Форума в научном журнале Северо-Восточного федерального университета им. М.К. Аммосова. Стоимость и требования к публикации будут опубликованы на сайте Форума.
Publications are also possible in the journals of the Forum partners.
