Discussion Platform “Human Adaptation in the Arctic”

The Russian North and the Arctic make two-thirds of the territory of Russia, sixty percent of domestic foreign exchange earnings in the economy of our country. This area possesses the richest deposits of natural resources. To extract these resources, settlements and cities began to appear beyond the Arctic Circle, signif-icant opportunities are opened for the development of the Northern Sea Route and the development of the Arctic territories.
Life in the Far North conditions is a serious test of strength: the following factors have a negative effect on the human body:
low temperatures and meteorological factors resulting in the development of pathological changes in the human body;
unbalanced nutrition, hypovitaminosis;
industrial pollution of the environment.
Technologically sophisticated devices, tools, innovations in labor and life play an important role in human adaptation to any extreme conditions.
The platform will discuss the topical issues and proposals for the development of new technologies that help people to adapt to the harsh conditions of the north.
