On September 27-30, 2020, the Government of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), international non-government organization of northern regions "The Northern Forum" and Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University, supported by the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic, held the 2nd Northern Sustainable Development Forum, established as the international platform to address the most topical aspects and issues of the development of the Arctic and the North and join the efforts of northern communities in achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals in the cold regions of the planet.

Taking into account the complicated epidemiological situation, the NSDF 2020 has been organized online. It has frame worked 57 events, convening over 2500 representatives from 36 countries.

Основной темой Северного форума – 2020 определена «Транспортная инфраструктура на Севере и в Арктике», а также: «Человек в Арктике», «Управление арктическими территориями», «Глобальное сотрудничество в интересах развития Севера», «Молодежный Северный Форум».
