The conference was attended by speakers from Yakutia and leading scientific organizations of Russia.

The conference is dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the adoption of the law of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) “On ethnological expertise in places of traditional residence and traditional economic activity of the Indigenous Minorities of the North of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)”. 

Ethnological expertise is divided into three types. Geological and geophysical works, mining and infrastructure projects. 
To date, according to the Ministry of the Republic for the Development of the Arctic and the Affairs of the Peoples of the North, 22 ethnological examinations have been carried out.

Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Mikhail Nikiforov noted that ethnological expertise has established itself as one of the main instruments for protecting the rights of the Indigenous Minorities of the North of our republic. “The work carried out over the years has led to the fact that a Decree was signed at the federal level the other day The Government of the Russian Federation, which approved the regulation of the procedure for compensation for losses caused to the indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North as a result of damage to their original habitat, economic activity, organization of all forms of ownership, as well as individuals,” he said.

The Minister for the Development of the Arctic and Affairs of the Peoples of the North of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Vladimir Chernogradskiy in his report highlighted that the indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North in the republic live in 70 settlements in 21 regions. Also, from this year, the state program "Development of the Arctic zone of the indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North" is being implemented. Note that in order to improve the quality of life of the population in Yakutia, federal programs are being promoted such as: Children of the Arctic, Young Reindeer Herder, Digitalization of the Linguistic and Cultural Heritage of the Indigenous Peoples of the North.

Conference speakers note that the experience accumulated in the republic in ethnological expertise is assessed positively. This is the experience of many years and many people who have contributed to the formation and development of the institute of ethnological expertise.
