Research and Practice Conference dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Sergei Obruchev Kolyma Joins the Regions

Interregional event (Magadan, Yakutia), expedition planned in follow-up.

Most speakers are expected to attend in person.

The conference is dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the outstanding geologist, geographer, corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences, discoverer of Chersky Range SERGEI OBRUCHEV, and the 90th anniversary of his expedition along the Kolyma River and its tributaries.

The tasks of the conference:

• • Summarize the available data on the geographic and other research of the Kolyma River basin and the adjacent regions of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) and Magadan Oblast;
• • Strengthening the ties between the specialists studying the Kolyma River basin in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) and Magadan Oblast;
• • Creating joint projects and scientific-educational programs of the interested scientific and educational organizations of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), Magadan Oblast, and other regions;
• • Developing proposals for the municipal and state authorities on organizing advanced scientific research in the Kolyma River basin and on tourism development;
• • Report of the reconnaissance party of the complex expedition “In the footsteps of Obruchev’s Kolyma Expedition”;
• • Discussing the preparation of the complex expedition “In the footsteps of Obruchev’s Kolyma Expedition” in 2022 for further comprehensive research of the Kolyma basin.
