Recommendations on the Action Plan for the Resilience of the City of Yakutsk

On October 6, 2020, within the framework of the Northern Forum on Sustainable Development, UN-Habitat will present the report of the Cities Resilience Profiling Program “Recommendations on the Action Plan for the Resilience of the City of Yakutsk” with the participation of the Head of the City District “Yakutsk City” S.V. Avksentieva, Minister for External Relations and People's Affairs of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) G.V. Kirillin.

The presentation of the report will be the result of the joint work of the District Administration of the city of Yakutsk and UN-Habitat after the signing in 2017 of the Cooperation Agreement between the District Administration of the city of Yakutsk and the United Nations Program on Human Settlements (UN-Habitat). At the presentation, UN-Habitat will present the resilience profile of the city of Yakutsk and recommendations for action that will eliminate risks (shocks, stresses and problems) and increase the resilience of the city.

The UN-Habitat Urban Viability Profiling Program is a program aimed at providing information and support to local governments of urban and rural settlements to ensure the development of the resilience of the territory in the face of natural and man-made phenomena (floods, forest fires, melting permafrost) and "stress" (intensive urbanization, shortage of housing stock), as well as the creation of a safer and more comfortable environment for living.
