Plenary session ENERGY OF THE ARCTIC: NEW CHALLENGES – NEW SOLUTIONS AND TECHNOLOGIES

The significant changes that are taking place on world markets today such as increasing energy demand, the need to develop and improve the efficiency of technologies, more stringent environmental regulations show that energy welfare issues are at the top of the global economic agenda. These issues are discussed by the leaders of countries, business circles and scientific communities, while the focus is often on high latitudes.

The Arctic is a zone of strategic ethnic interests of our country, and in many ways has been and remains a polygon of innovative development for the Russian economy and its fuel-energy complex.

The resource potential of the region is enormous, but its development is linked to no less significant environmental, climate and technological challenges. It is important that this agenda is based on energy concepts as a single system of a full life cycle and environmentally-friendly principles.

As ethnographic observations show, innovative in the Arctic and Siberia are not only large-scale, life-changing projects. Changes occur due to the adaptation of new materials, testing of new technologies for mobility, storing things, maintaining heat, cooking, etc. That is why Yakutia has a unique opportunity to consider resources and energy processes not only on a global scale, but also at a level commensurate with an individual.

Topics to be discussed:

  • Energy Efficiency as a Unified Life Cycle System. Creation, Generation, Application, Storage, Transportation and Utilization of Energy Resources.
  • Mining and Transportation of Minerals in Arctic and Far East.
  • Low Carbon Energy
  • Problems of Personnel Training for Work in High Latitudes. Attracting Specialists to the Arctic.
